Pray for Egypt. Here are some prayer points suggested by one of my colleagues who ministers throughout the Middle East:

  1. Pray that God will use the events of the last two weeks (starting in Tunisia and leading to today's growing tensions in the region) to create spiritual hunger in the Arab World.
  2. Pray for the situation in Egypt.  Pray that God will accomplish his purposes while restraining the violence.  We have two missionary families in the country with whom we have been unable to communicate for the past 36 hours due to the government-imposed Internet and cell phone blackout.  We're sure they are safe and keeping their heads down as both have experience living in difficult and dangerous places.
  3. Pray for the safety of missionaries and national Christians throughout the area.
  4.  Pray that the new governments that are being installed in Tunisia and Egypt will offer greater religious freedom than their predecessors and that this will lead to the growth of the Church in the Arab World.

  1. I had figured the Egyptian protests might wear down and fade. But that's not happening. Yesterday's participation was huge. It looks like the protests are becoming better organized, and that the military is showing laudable restraint. Both are good to see and provide some cause for help, I think.
